Tum Tum Treehouse Lodge

A long time ago, a scenic pool in the eastern Kalahari was the favored rest place for some of the San people who were the only inhabitants of the area at that time. Today, Tum Tum is the location for Imvelo’s new lodge – and what better way to respect the original hunter-gatherer inhabitants of Hwange than to keep their name for the place. Fast forward to 2025 when treehouse design experts from the US flew to Hwange to advise on the innovative project. From the outset, every care was taken to ensure that the treehouses would be built in a tree-friendly manner. Now, Tum Tum is a unique lodge where our guests can slow down and relax on their decks to enjoy the wildlife parade below and in front.

Hwange National Park at 14,500 sq km, is one of Africa’s great Parks and is home to over 100 species of mammals, including nineteen large herbivore and eight large carnivore species, and nearly 400 species of birds. Hwange is elephant country and much of the game viewing relates to magnificent opportunities to view these, the largest land mammals, in a completely wild state. The lodge estate is in an exclusive 5000 acre portion of Ngamo Forest adjacent to the Ngamo Gate into Hwange National park, 1.5 km from the lodge. Game activities into the park are within a vast exclusive and wild area of the park.
